INSIDE TUDOR

THE DAWN OF INNOVATION

The watch merchant and producer “Veuve de Philippe Hüther” registered the trademark “The TUDOR” founded in Geneva for Rolex founder Hans Wilsdorf in February 1926. The house later rebranded to Wilsdorf in 1936. Hans Wilsdorf realized that the moment had arrived to grow the brand and give it its own character shortly after WWII. He founded “Montres TUDOR S.A.” on March 6, 1946, specialized in male and female models. Rolex would ensure the technical, aesthetic, and practical qualities, as well as distribution and after-sales support.

TUDOR History

“For some years now, I have been considering the idea of making a watch that our agents could sell at a more modest price than our Rolex watches, and yet one that would attain the standard of dependability for which Rolex is famous. I decided to form a separate company, with the object of making and marketing this new watch. It is called the TUDOR watch company.”

- H. Wilsdorf
